1986
In 1986, The Pierrotters retained the same line-up as for 1985 and we established ourselves as a regular summer season act in Brighton: we agreed contracts with Brighton Resorts Services and performed for up to five hours a day (non-stop) along the promenade, in Brighton Square, the Pavilion Lawns and throughout the town. We won the ‘All England Busking Award’ silver salver for ‘The Best Non-Musical Act’ a remarkable achievement for an act that featured singing and music alongside clowning and anarchy! (The overall winner was Chris Lynham, whose finale was to run around the stage with a lit firework held between his bare buttocks – how could we possibly compete with that?) We played the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank and also a range of charity events and political fund-raising activities. This was the first year that we produced a postcard for sale.
